Job Description:

MEM Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Shift Cleanroom Operator for our client operating within Food Services in Milton Keynes, MK10.

Salary :

  • Starting salary £26,538.36, Per Annum
  • Increases to £29,401.50, Per Annum, after probation period – plus benefits

Responsibilities:

  • Simultaneously run multiple production lines, ensuring all lines meet their KPI targets (including wastage and efficiency) and that the team leader is aware if targets are not going to be met
  • Ensure the smooth production flow of product throughout the process
  • Differentiate between good quality and sub-standard product
  • Carry out product changeovers, work as a team and minimise downtime
  • Report any anomalies immediately to the Team Leader or an appropriate colleague i.e. Senior Production Operative, to ensure wastage and efficiency targets are maintained
  • Communicate and deal with situations as they arise, in a timely manner
  • Maintain a consistently high work ethic, allowing optimisation of line speeds at all times
  • Maintain a good standard of housekeeping to provide clean, safe working areas at all times
  • Report any Health and Safety issues to Team Leader or Production Manager immediately
  • Carry out quality checks and CCP’s to procedure and processes. Recording of information on daily shift paperwork
  • Record all checks accurately into computer and use AX sharepoint system

Shift Cleanroom Operator Duties:

To operate machines, ensuring that the correct quantity of quality product is packed into the correct packaging.

  • Carry out changeovers and set up of machines with minimal downtime created
  • Ensure that all packaging materials are scanned before use
  • Ensure that specifications/traceability sheets are followed and filled out correctly
  • Ensure that the correct paperwork is used in accordance with the correct products
  • Ensure all quality checks are carried out and recorded on line computer system
  • Ensure all coding is to specification & running on correct program and report any problems immediately
  • Ensure all guarding is in place before running lines
  • Maintain film usage targets and minimize rejects, by liaising with production staff and Team Leaders
  • Run lines in accordance with approved speeds, to avoid bottle necks and in line with the company KPIs
  • Work closely with the warehouse to ensure sufficient stock of film and that traceability and stock rotation procedures are followed.  At end of run, return all stock to warehouse, scanned and wrapped correctly
  • Ensure Team Leader is informed of any potential quality issues you may have before boxes are packed
  • Responsible for looking after equipment i.e. ensuring that all parts of the equipment are maintained and reported in a timely manner if any part is broken
  • Follow manual handing procedures at all times
  • Ensure that the clean-as-you-go policy is always maintained.

Hygiene:

To ensure all hygiene and cleaning duties are carried out to a high standard across the entire factory.

  • Clean production lines and factory areas, as and when required, using CICs, shift hygiene cleaning records
  • Complete all hygiene duties as per shift cleaning record sheets
  • Carry out hygiene swabbing
  •  Ensure that all cleaning documentation is completed accurately and signed off correctly
  •  Responsible for looking after hygiene equipment i.e. ensuring that all parts of the equipment are maintained and reported in a timely manner if any part is broken

Environmental:

  • Awareness of environmental impact and reduce general waste, energy running
  • Switch of any belts when line running isn’t required i.e cleaning, breakdown longer than 1hr
  • Minimise product to bins for animal feed
  • Chemical usage – correct dosage used for cleaning purposes

Palletising:

Palletising box/tray product according to the specification and transfer of completed pallets to the warehouse

  • Ensure that all pallets are built to the correct configuration
  • Ensure that pallets are booked correctly using the computerized system
  • Ensure that all traceability requirements and data entries are completed accurately
  • Ensure quality checks are carried out accurately and recorded into the computer, quality checks recorded on line paperwork
  • Ensure there is sufficient stock readily available so that lines don’t run out of trays, boxes, etc
  • Ensure lines have sufficient, accurate labels ready for production
  • Return unused stock to warehouse, ensuring that traceability details and stock quantities are recorded
  • Ensure oncoming shift has sufficient stock for all lines
  • Report problems with computer booking/scanning systems/ label machine to Team Leader in timely manner
  • Responsible for looking after equipment i.e. ensuring that all parts of the equipment are maintained and reported in a timely manner if any part is broken
  • Follow manual handing procedures at all times
  • Ensure that the clean-as-you-go policy is always maintained. Be able to carry out changeovers for case packing equipment in a timely manner with minimal downtime

Mixing:

Mix batches of dough, strictly according to the mix sheet/specification and company standards.

  • Ensure that all specifications and mixes for the orders are accurately followed
  • Ensure that the correct raw materials are scanned and added to the mix strictly in accordance with the traceability procedure and mixes scanned to the system correctly
  • Ensure that all traceability requirements and data entries are completed accurately
  • Ensure mixing is not carried out too far in advance – mix only to standards, or as directed by Team Leader
  • Ensure Team Leader is informed of any potential quality issues before the mix is put into the hopper.
  •  Report any problems with the computer scanning system to the Team Leader and warehouse in a timely manner
  • Responsible for looking after equipment i.e. ensuring that all parts of the equipment are maintained and reported in a timely manner if any part is broken
  • Follow manual handing procedures at all times
  • Ensure that the clean-as-you-go policy is always maintained
  • Ensure sieve tailings for flour is carried out and recorded on the documentation each shift

Press:            

  • To work as part of a team of tortilla press operators
  • To carry out the operation of press machines & associated equipment- dividers, press, proffers, ovens, producing quality products that are manufactured within specification and achieving targeted production KPIs
  • Mix batches of dough, strictly according to mix specification and company standards
  • Understand mix control, water specifications, tortilla sizes, and shape, vision system for waste
  • Carry out and understand shimming for out of spec sizes and reduce vision wastE
  • Carry out tooling changeovers, platten and belt changes on the press
  • Carry out cleaning duties and requirements of equipment & machines to a high standard
  • Maintain a safe working environment, fully complying with legislative requirements and company policies and procedure. Actively promote Health & Safety in your working environment & in all factory
  • Record all process information onto shift paperwork and AX system
  • Operator data capture and record information for works orders and line stoppages, breakdowns

Competencies/Qualifications/Experience/Technical Skills:

  • Experience running lines and production machines
  • Positive participation as part of the team
  • Adapt to change in a constructive and positive manner                  
  • Communicate clearly with colleagues and management in English. This includes verbal, written, reading and numeracy competency
  • Basic use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Report situations/incidents in a timely manner and as required, be an active participant in the Solution process
  • Treat all colleagues with dignity and respect
  • Work rota days and nights

Desirable:

  • Level 2: Foundation in Food Hygiene
  • Manual Handling experience
  • Understanding of HACCP

  • Shift work (Rota days and nights)
  • Start Date: ASAP
